One for you Two for me

On Friday, we did Play Make Create. This is where the teacher reads you a story and you discuss the message in the story. Then you create something based on the message and also do a piece of writing. You can use materials or make a digital creation.  This week Mrs Craig Read the book: One for you and two for me.

 It was about the importance of friendship and sharing thing fairly.

 I chose to create a piece of art from the book.

Pet day vaseline saucer

 We have Pet Day at Ohaeawai School every year and one of the activities we do is to create a symmetrical design on a saucer using flower petals. You put Vaseline on the saucer first to make the flowers stick. That’s why they are called Vaseline Saucers. Here is a pic of me with mine:

Dog mosaic

We have been learning about using apps on our Chromebook to create images that look like mosaics or stained glass windows. We used Google Draw to make some and some people also used Sumopaint. Here is the image I made using Google Draw. I chose a  dog because they are a really cool animal. Here's my work.

Frank Stella art

lock down learning

For maths we practised basic facts and worked on writing a variety of equations which would have a certain number for the answer. My bug art

 Because we were using ‘Insects’ as a topic this week for reading and writing we created some works of art based on insects also. We had to make them out of any materials we could find at home. I chose to use two old books, fabric and cellophane.

maths for the week

 Another thing we have been  learning in maths is how to solve word problems involving combinations of things. You had to be able to write addition equations showing as many different   combinations as we could. 

Some people found it was useful to do your figuring out using a table. But not the kind of table you eat off-a mathematical table.

My senses

 This week one thing we did for writing was a Come to Your Senses Poem. First you had to think of a human emotion, like love. Then you had to say what colour it would be. Then, you had to write 5 more sentences using your 5 senses saying how each would relate to love. The emotion I chose was joy.

  It was about being kind. I chose to make a little monster out of a cup, pom pom's, googly eyes, two straws and a story about Laylah . Here's my work.

Matariki movie

For the last couple of weeks Laylah, Stella, Aiden, Maia, Sienna M, Cheyne and I made a movie. The movie is about Matariki the seven sister's. Here's our movie.

  

Matariki day

On Friday it was Matariki Day.  We  chose two activities to do. I chose kawakawa cookies and Maori games. For Maori games we played 3 games. We played pukana, rakau sticks and Maori handshake. For kawakawa cookies we made fried bread and kawakawa cookies. Here's some photo's.



























Wairua

 A couple of weeks ago we made a poem about wairua, our happy place. My happy place is with my cat June. We also made a piece of batik art about our happy place. I have inserted a picture of it in my poem. Here's my poem.

Feathers poem

 This term we write a poem about feathers here's my work I hope you like it.

Feathers

Walking through the school one day, a feather I can see. Flying through the sky looking for me. Right, left, right, left flying through the sky landing on a rock for me to say hi. The wind blew wild and the feather sat still and then next minute another feather landed on the rock. If you look closely the feathers were rainbow on their side. The wind blew wild and the feathers sat still like it was the perfect place to chill. A few minutes later the wind blew wilder and the feathers said bye bye. Off they flew to find another perfect place to chill.
