Science-Crystals

Yesterday with Miss Fletcher we made crystals using hot water and sugar/salt. We had to dissolve the sugar/salt in the water until it was saturated - would not dissolve anymore. We added food colouring then put our shaped pipe cleaner or string into the solution. We have to be patient until crystals form.

To make crystals you need sugar, hot water, a piece of pipe
cleaner or string and a drop of food colouring. Your crystals
can be green, pink, purple, and blue. First tip the hot water
into a mixing cup and put sugar in until the hot water can not
hold any more sugar. When you have done that, tip the hot
water with the sugar in it into the jar and put a drop of
colouring into the hot water then mix it in. Put the piece of
pipe cleaner in tied onto a stick resting over the opening of the
jar.
